TESTIMONIALS
“drove up to this panoramic valley, in the midst of which is sited the OOTY School of Architecture. An Idyllic location for architectural studies, after the preliminary round of discussions with the staff, proceeded to the studio to preview the works of the final semester students who were perusing their THESIS. I was and am on the whole impressed with what these young aspiring spirits have achieved and am confident that they will with a little push make everyone of McGAN’S SOA proud.”

The sheets, paintings, rendering etc are given a once-over and subsequently a million-over. Perfection is the goal and perfection was to be achieved. Zonasa is no cake walk for the organizers, participants or the college that sends their hopeful. In the three day event, each day unfolded with series of workshops and seminars and the convention kept the students preoccupied throughout the day. They did win us all over but we won back the championship overall. Tribal Art Workshop 2018
Kurumba Art can be called a minimalist geometrical art in that it uses simple shapes such as S’curves, circles, triangles and lines for depiction of powerful socio-religious themes and folk traditions. The colour palette is also restricted to six colours- black, brown, red, yellow, green and white. These colours are naturally derived. As an example, red (semm manna)and white (bodhi manna) are extracted from soil, green comes from the leaves of a particular plant (kaatavarai sedi), and black, brown and red are made from the bark of the raisin tree (kari maran). In the face of it, it look similar to Warli art from Maharashtra but the differences are notable on closer speculationClean Nilgiris Campaign 2018

ANDC Zero Kilometer 2017
We believe it is the careful consideration of a space that implies it belongs to the area around. There we wish to create an “alternative space”. The site selection is all about reviving a space that can be more efficiently used by the citizens of the locality. The site is the pathway from Charring Cross to Modern Stores. The pathway is around 100M to 150M long. On the other side of the pathway there is an open drain that flows from the site to across the road. As children use the pathway more frequently to commute from their households to the school; this isn’t one of the brightest and most inviting place they get to view every morning.
Therefore, with all considerations of the people that use the pathway, the team came up with an idea to revive the space for the further and proper use of it without hindrances that cause disturbance to the local people. With the initiated work, NGO’s like The MOB Project has started working on various other sites within the locality- a reflection of the work that now exists. It has not only been a beginning for many other organizations to come forward and do the same, but also has been an eye opener for the people sitting in power to finally be able to go down to the level of the working class that use the pathway to understand the problems and chaos that relevant sites such as hold.

Zonal NASA Convention 2014-15

From late night discussions about costumes to midnight drafting to buying materials to practicing non-stop for hours to perfect a step, a week went by everyone sacrificing sleep and food , yet hoping for the best outcome of the few people who worked day and night draining every ounce of their energy. The night of the departure to Chennai came with a lot of preparation. The sheets had to be panel ready, the costumes and props had to be packed and a lot of sleepy heads needed to get things done and still in between all this chaos everyone was beyond excited and determined
Paint and Help 2015
In order to celebrate NASA Day, we had come up with three tasks. Out of the three was ´Paint and Help´. The objective was to paint graffiti on the wall of an Elementary school near our college premises. The graffiti was related to ´Green Architecture´. The main aim was to give awareness to young minds on how buildings and vegetation has to be balanced.
The task was completed in five days by keeping the NASA day as head start. On 11th and 12thof September 2015,the first coat of primer was done by the evening. On the 13thof September, the work resumed with the design sketches made on the wall, and the final improvisations was done.
